Seypoly 2007Student Welfare

While every member of the academic staff is available to advise students on any matter whether directly concerned with studies or not, students also discuss with the staff of the Student Support Services Section, in complete confidence, any specific problem which might be troubling them.

Students wishing to talk in a relaxed setting are provided with a confidential counselling service. Students needing help to alleviate or solve an immediate crisis or problem, whether personal, social or educational are encouraged to arrange interviews with the Student Support Services Officers. This is a dimension of educational experience no less important than the acquisition of academic qualifications. The insight gained from a discussion with a counsellor may facilitate new awareness and personal growth.

Counselling usually takes place on a one-to-one basis although an alternative approach can be to join together with other students and to share concerns and difficulties in a small group.
